Chad/Cameroon Pipeline: Transit fees up 26.5%.
This was revealed at the session of the Monitoring Committee of the Pipeline Steering and Monitoring Committee (PSMC) held on 29 November at SNH.
The meeting, which was chaired by the EGM, in his capacity as Chairman of the PSMC, reviewed the activities carried out by the PSMC from 1st January to 31 October 2022.
During this period, Cameroon collected a transit fee of 34.04 billion CFAF, against 26.9 billion CFAF during the same period of the previous fiscal year. The favourable evolution of the US dollar exchange rate is the main factor behind this rise.
Another significant figure concerning the operation of the Chad/Cameroon pipeline: as at 31 October, a volume of 38.6 million barrels of oil had been lifted at the Komé-Kribi 1 terminal, compared with 37.1 million barrels during the same period in 2021, representing an increase of 4%. This reflects higher volumes transported by “new shippers” such as China National Petroleum Company Inc. Chad and Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
