Bipaga-Mpolongwe gas pipeline: safety first

On 12 May, the Bipaga Mpolongwe gas pipeline, which supplies the Kribi thermal power plant with gas for electricity generation, recorded 3 000 days of operation with no lost-time accidents and no reported pollution. This achievement is partly due to the special attention SNH gives to the safety of its operations and workers.

As a reminder, the Bipaga/Mpolongwe gas pipeline, which is about 18 km long, was commissioned in February 2013. Since its commissioning, it has fulfilled all the orders of its customer, Kribi Power Development Company (KPDC), operator of the Kribi power plant. With an installed capacity of 216 MW, this power station supplies the Southern Interconnected Grid, which provides electricity to six of Cameroon's ten regions.
