SNH's LPG depot in Bipaga: Already 5 000 tankers successfully loaded
Commissioned in 2018, the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH) depot in Bipaga supplies the Cameroonian market with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly called domestic gas. It is currently the only source of local supply. Bipaga’s gas reaches households via marketers.
In May 2021, SNH and its partners conducted a satisfaction survey, the results of which indicated that 100% of marketers consider the input of Bipaga’s production to be positive and are satisfied with the depot’s service quality.
Since its creation, the LPG depot has helped to reduce domestic gas imports and to reduce the subsidies granted to this product by the State:
- Contribution to national GPL supply (21% in 2021), with the equivalent of 8 million gas cylinders loaded for Cameroonian households;
- Subsidy savings estimated at 2.794 billion CFAF in 2018 and 2019;
- Currency savings estimated at US$44 million between 2018 and 2020.
