The LPG depot’s contribution lauded by distribution companies
This is what results from a satisfaction survey conducted in May by SNH and Tradex, and whose conclusions were presented on July 9 in Douala, during a meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee in charge of the monthly monitoring of the LPG market.
Seven of the nine companies consulted responded to the questionnaire submitted to them. They were SCTM, AZA AFRIGAZ, SEDECAM, STARGAS, INFOTECH, BOCOM and GREEN OIL. Their responses translated a general satisfaction with the Bipaga LPG depot’s contribution. Thus, for all the survey respondents, deliveries from the Bipaga depot make the national LPG supply more reliable, relieve congestion at the Bonaberi Gas Centre and ensure a more efficient supply of domestic gas to Yaoundé. The quality of service, which notably leads to a improved availability of this product in the distribution network, was also praised by the companies surveyed. Concerning the strengths of the Bipaga LPG depot, the marketers particularly appreciate the emphasis laid on security and the professionalism of the workers. They wish that SNH will continue to develop gas projects with LPG production, so as to increase the national supply of this product.
Some proposals were also made by the companies who took part in the survey, to improve depot’s services. They mostly include installing a weighbridge, customers’ presence during the calibration of meters as well as an increase of the depot’s production, storage capacity and the number of loading bays.
Clarifications on most of these issues were provided to the marketers during the July session of the Ad Hoc Committee in charge of the monthly monitoring of the LPG market.
SNH's LPG Depot in Bipaga, which was commissioned in 2018, supplied 25 092 Metric tonnes (MT) of LPG to the local market in 2020, a 16.93% contribution to national supply. Deliveries in 2021 are expected to reach 34 000 MT, thanks notably to the optimisation of natural gas processing from the Sanaga Sud field.
