Signing of the Unitisation Agreement for the Yoyo/Yolanda Transboundary Gas Field between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea,
on 03 February 2026 in Malabo, under the auspices of H.E. Teodoro NGUEMA OBIANG MANGUE.

The signing of this Agreement illustrates exemplary South–South cooperation and paves the way for the effective management of natural resources shared by Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. It should be recalled that this ceremony comes after nearly a decade of negotiations and, above all, follows the signing in Yaoundé in March 2023 of the bilateral Cooperation Agreement by Presidents Paul BIYA and Teodoro OBIANG NGUEMA MBASOGO.

As part of the ongoing process, one of the major milestones was the deposit of the Instrument of Ratification at United Nations Headquarters in New York in January 2025 by the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH), thereby rendering the Cooperation Agreement unassailable. This step significantly strengthened confidence, particularly in negotiations with CHEVRON, the project operator. As the State’s implementing arm for the development of the energy sector, SNH effectively steered the discussions and ensured the smooth conduct of negotiations, once again deploying its technical expertise and interface role.

It will be recalled that on 19 November 2025, the Vice-President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro OBIANG NGUEMA MANGUE, during a visit to Yaoundé which included an audience with President Paul BIYA at the Unity Palace, paid a working visit to SNH and announced the imminent signing of this Unitisation Agreement.

This has now been accomplished by the plenipotentiaries of both States. On the one hand, the Governments, through the signatures of the Cameroonian Minister of Mines and Technological Development and the Equatorial Guinean Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining Development. On the other hand, through the signatures of the national oil companies – SNH for Cameroon and GEPETROL for Equatorial Guinea – together with CHEVRON.

The Cameroonian delegation in Malabo was led by the Minister of Mines and Technological Development, Mr FUH CALISTUS GENTRY, accompanied by Mrs Nathalie MOUDIKI, Adviser No.2 at SNH, representing the Executive General Manager.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, the TRADEX Group (a subsidiary of SNH) officially commissioned a new service station located on Hassan II Avenue in the city of Malabo. The solemn event was presided over by the Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea, Manuel OSA NSUE NSUA.

H.E. Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue visits SNH

A meeting focused on energy cooperation and progress on the cross-border Yoyo/Yolanda project

On 19 November, SNH welcomed His Excellency Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, Vice President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, for a working visit dedicated to strengthening energy cooperation between the two countries.

Received by Ms Nathalie Moudiki, Representative of the Executive General Manager, the Vice President held discussions with SNH management on the strategic issues facing the oil and gas sector, as well as on the progress of joint initiatives, notably the Yoyo/Yolanda cross-border project, jointly developed by Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea.

The exchanges outlined the development framework of the Yoyo–Yolanda cross-border gas field, estimated at 2.5 trillion cubic feet. The adopted scheme includes the construction of two export pipelines and the separate processing of gas at Bipaga and Punta Europa. Partnership opportunities in exploration and production, as well as petroleum logistics were also addressed. The Equatoguinean delegation then took part in a closed-door session with SNH officials to review prospects for operational cooperation.

This high-level visit demonstrates the shared commitment of both States to deepen their collaboration in the hydrocarbons sector and to accelerate the implementation of major regional infrastructure projects.

CSTAR: The Board of Directors welcomes progress on the project

Meeting in Dubai on 6 December 2025, the members of the Board of Directors of CSTAR and CSTAR Petroleum reviewed the significant progress made on the project.

The session, chaired by Mrs Nathalie Moudiki, Chairlady of the Board of Directors, brought together representatives of the Ariana Energy Group, the RCG Consortium and TRADEX, along with directors, advisers and experts involved in building the future refinery and storage depot in Kribi.

In her opening remarks, Mrs Moudiki welcomed the “concrete and visible progress on the field”, citing in particular the legal establishment of the project entities, the operationalisation of their governance structure, and the financial structuring process, which is now well underway. SNH, the main Cameroonian shareholder, has already financed one-third of the cost of the refinery’s FEED and the entirety of the future TankFarm from its own funds.

At the Mboro site, near Kribi, the base camp is already operational. A team of engineers is expected to arrive in January to initiate the construction phase. The laying of the foundation stone on 17 July 2025 marked a major symbolic milestone in the project’s development.

Another decisive step was the signing of a framework agreement and an arrangement mandate with BGFI Bank Cameroon, aimed at mobilising the additional financing required to complete the refinery.

Despite a national context marked by political deadlines, CSTAR emphasises the “resilient and constructive” dynamics driving the project. Mrs Moudiki thanked the partners for their commitment and consistency, stressing that “the success of the project depends on the quality of the teams behind it.”

The next steps include finalising the technical studies, effectively launching construction and continuing efforts to secure financing.

SNH showcases Cameroon’s energy potential at the American Data Centers & Ai Conference 2025

Unveiling the Gas-to-Data (G2D) Initiative to position natural gas and geothermal power in driving AI-ready digital infrastructure

SNH took part in the American Data Centers & AI Conference & Exhibition, scheduled for November 19–20, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Hosted by ALJ Group, the event brought together leaders from the data center, energy, and AI industries to explore how expanding AI workloads are reshaping digital infrastructure.

Key discussions awere focusing on energy integration and resilience, including connecting hyperscale data centers to power grids, optimizing grid performance with AI, and deploying low-carbon energy solutions. The conference targeted decision-makers, engineers, infrastructure providers and energy innovators seeking partnerships and technical insights within the rapidly growing AI-driven data centre ecosystem.

As a featured presenter, SNH introduced the Gas-to-Data (G2D) initiative, a national strategy aimed at leveraging Cameroon’s energy assets to attract data center investments and support high-density digital operations. This initiative positions natural gas and geothermal power as reliable, low-carbon energy sources capable of meeting the significant power demands of AI-era data centers while supporting economic growth and accelerating the country’s digital transformation.

SNH also showcased how Cameroon’s natural gas and geothermal assets can drive digital growth, industrial development, and sustainable urban planning. The presentations will demonstrate how these resources can underpin the rise of data centers, AI infrastructure and integrated “green city” ecosystems.
