Signing of the Unitisation Agreement for the Yoyo/Yolanda Transboundary Gas Field between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea,
on 03 February 2026 in Malabo, under the auspices of H.E. Teodoro NGUEMA OBIANG MANGUE.
The signing of this Agreement illustrates exemplary South–South cooperation and paves the way for the effective management of natural resources shared by Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. It should be recalled that this ceremony comes after nearly a decade of negotiations and, above all, follows the signing in Yaoundé in March 2023 of the bilateral Cooperation Agreement by Presidents Paul BIYA and Teodoro OBIANG NGUEMA MBASOGO.
As part of the ongoing process, one of the major milestones was the deposit of the Instrument of Ratification at United Nations Headquarters in New York in January 2025 by the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH), thereby rendering the Cooperation Agreement unassailable. This step significantly strengthened confidence, particularly in negotiations with CHEVRON, the project operator. As the State’s implementing arm for the development of the energy sector, SNH effectively steered the discussions and ensured the smooth conduct of negotiations, once again deploying its technical expertise and interface role.
It will be recalled that on 19 November 2025, the Vice-President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro OBIANG NGUEMA MANGUE, during a visit to Yaoundé which included an audience with President Paul BIYA at the Unity Palace, paid a working visit to SNH and announced the imminent signing of this Unitisation Agreement.
This has now been accomplished by the plenipotentiaries of both States. On the one hand, the Governments, through the signatures of the Cameroonian Minister of Mines and Technological Development and the Equatorial Guinean Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining Development. On the other hand, through the signatures of the national oil companies – SNH for Cameroon and GEPETROL for Equatorial Guinea – together with CHEVRON.
The Cameroonian delegation in Malabo was led by the Minister of Mines and Technological Development, Mr FUH CALISTUS GENTRY, accompanied by Mrs Nathalie MOUDIKI, Adviser No.2 at SNH, representing the Executive General Manager.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the TRADEX Group (a subsidiary of SNH) officially commissioned a new service station located on Hassan II Avenue in the city of Malabo. The solemn event was presided over by the Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea, Manuel OSA NSUE NSUA.
