SNH Hands Over Renovated Kribi SDO’s Office

Presided over by the Governor of the South Region, Félix Nguélé Nguélé, and attended by the representative of the Executive General Manager of the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH), Nathalie Moudiki, and the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Ocean division, Nouhou Bello, the event saw strong participation from administrative and traditional authorities, as well as prominent community members.

Beautiful and majestic, the renovated SDO’S Office in Kribi is unrecognisable from the old colonial building, constructed in the 1930s, whose dilapidated state no longer allowed for work in a decent environment or for welcoming the public.

The renovation works, which lasted approximately six months, have restored the building to its splendour. In addition to SNH engineers and technicians, a significant local workforce contributed to the completion of the project.

Every detail was addressed, from the building's core structure to its electrical and plumbing systems, insulation, exterior finishes, windows, doors, flooring, and roof. The revamped SDO's Office also boasts brand-new office furniture and modern computer equipment.

The Governor of the South Region, representing the Minister of Territorial Administration, and the City Mayor expressed their appreciation for this achievement and commended SNH for their community-minded contribution. In her address, Nathalie Moudiki stated that this renovation aligns with "the vision of the Head of State, which is focused on the development of our dear and beautiful country by relying on strong companies that carry out impactful actions in the field."

SNH's contribution to the professionalisation of university teaching commended

Three decades of existence provided the Faculty of Science (FS) of the University of Douala with an opportunity to bring together its longstanding partners such as SNH, alumni, current students and their lecturers. The anniversary, organised under the aegis of the Rector, was spearheaded by Professor Marie Joseph Ntamak, Dean, the first woman to assume this role since the faculty's inception in 1993.

The event served as a platform for SNH to present its activities and projects through a stand and an information session.

On this occasion, Professor Ntamak highlighted SNH's position as the honoured guest and benefactor of the University of Douala's Centre for Petroleum and Mining Sciences Studies and Research (Pétromines). Indeed, SNH's support in 2011 was instrumental in establishing the first-ever petroleum geoscience computer lab in Cameroon and Central Africa. The project was realised in collaboration with Schlumberger, at a total cost of around 3 billion CFA francs according to Professor Ntamak.

SNH is at the forefront of an initiative to broaden this venture to additional academic institutions. Besides Petromines, these include the Earth Sciences departments at the Universities of Yaoundé I, Dschang, Buea, and Bamenda, as well as the Faculty of Mines and Petroleum Industries at the University of Maroua (based in Kaélé), and the School of Geology and Mining at the University of Ngaoundéré (located in Meïganga).
